Joke's on you

Recently I recieved an Email, a forward from a friend. It was about a rickshaw ride in Delhi. The story is that two friends were going by an auto rickshaw. These youngsters amused themselves with a lot of 'Sardarji' jokes. The Auto driver, who happened to be a Sardarji, did not utter a word. At the end, when they paid for the ride, the auto driver gave them a Rupee each, asking them to give it to the first Sardarji beggar they met.

The two friends could never chance to see a single Sardarji who begged for alms. So they preserved the coin as mark of respect for Sardarjis who worked hard for their livelyhood, did anything to keep themselves up. Anything but begging.

This sort of jokes on another community is common world wide. In India Sardarjis are made fun of. In Tamilnadu we call Andra people 'Goltis'. In keral the word 'Thamizhan' is synonymous to fools. In Andra 'Aravadu' is a less intellect fellow and so on...

In Australia, the aborigins , in England, the Irish, in other European countries, the Polish, in the US, the Negros and we find this 'man teasing man' is prevelant everywhere. But What makes one feel a member of another community is inferior is quite debatable. We have never given a thought to the fact that India and its integrity is guarded more by those in the bordering states. The Punjabis have borne the brunt more than those in the interior. The Negros have lent their toil to make America what it is today. But pulling their legs continues . Why should anybody call themselves cultured, when they cant see a fellow human being as an equal to themselves?
